Classroom Information
D1 will be a Year 5 Class comprising 32 Year 5 students, each with their own individual areas of strengths and needs.
- Students will regularly work in different learning environments and groupings, these groups are fluid and based on the educational needs of each student.
- A sense of classroom community will be fostered through activities acknowledging and valuing difference and building relationships based on mutual respect.
- Students will be encouraged to behave in a responsible, respectful and resilient manner at all times.
- Each student will be encouraged to work to their full potential at all times to develop socially, emotionally and academically.
Absences
In the event of absence from school it is a legal requirement that a note be sent to school explaining the absence.
Allergies
Please be aware of the increasing number of students with food allergies in schools, we ask that you are mindful of this when sending food to school.
We have two children in our class with a severe allergy to nuts, please be aware when sending food to school.
Behaviour Management
In line with the Winthrop Primary School Behaviour Management Policy, which can be found here, outstanding work and effort will be acknowledged through the use of whole school and classroom reward systems. The policy will also be closely followed in the event of negative behaviour, in addition to classroom behaviour management strategies.
Bell Times
8.30am Classroom open - students are expected to organise themselves for the day, homework folders must come to school daily.
10.40-11am Recess
12.40-1.20pm Lunch
3.00pm School closes
Crunch and Sip and water bottles
Students are allowed to bring 'brain food' to snack on during the day at their desk, this is cut up fruit or vegetables. They are also allowed to bring a bottle of plain water.
Equipment
Please check with your child to ensure they have all the required equipment (pencils, sharpeners, rulers etc). I recommend each item being clearly labelled so they can be returned to the student if misplaced.

Library
Library borrowing time is Monday at 10.10am.
Money
If sending money to school for activities or excursions please ensure the correct money is in a sealed envelope clearly marked with your child's name and what the money is for. All money will be directed to the front office.
Parent Helpers
If you would like to help in the classroom during the year please let me know and I will contact you when needed.
Timetable
A copy of the classroom timetable has been posted on this website and in the classroom.
Uniform
Full school uniform is required and there is a 'no hat no play' rule, please ensure your child has a hat to allow them to participate in school activities.
